Consider Boarding. The dorm our class is assigned, will be our home base for info, activities, and talent night practices. The more boarders we have, the better our dorm assignment. Indicate your handicap/special needs for boarding, when you register. Also, let me know.
In addition to the KS Alumni Events in your brochure, our KS ’69 alumni committee has planned a few class activities during the week.
We have also re-started our imua69.com website. Check it out, sporadically, as we will be posting Reunion info and updates on the site.
Mon June 3- Imua69 -50th Reunion Golf Tournament. Noa Chong and James Tanigawa.
Our very own Golf tournament (you may golf with the Alumni tournament if you prefer) Please see separate posting of Golf Flyer. Golfers, we need to hear from you by April 22 to get your golf shirt sizes. Golf Shirts were generously donated by Kimo Spencer.
Post Golf Activity is being hosted by Bobby and Jonny Willing at their home.
Open to non-Golfers as well.
Tuesday at noon, boarder check-in begins. Myself and welcome committee will be there to greet you.
Memorial Chapel at 4:00 p.m. is the official start of Alumni Week.
We will be presenting a class oli and hoʻokupu @ Maunaʻala.
Lurline Naone will be working on our ho’okupu. She would like to create something that is reminiscent, significant or characteristic of our class. Please text or email me your manaʻo (ideas/memory).
After the Poʻokula Dinner, there will be a short practice for talent night.

A cover letter and Song sheets are coming to you soon. Please learn the words as there will be “no pepa”, going on stage. Uʻi is also holding practices on May 4, 11 and 25 at 10:00 am, at her church, corner of Judd & Mahalo St
Wednesday – FYI: The 9:00-noon Kaʻiwakiloumoku Experience is a hands-on activity.
You will choose 2 of the 4 offered (awa, Kui Club, Lomilomi, Lei)!

- 6:30 pm – Our “Reunion 50 and Fabulous” Potluck. At the Dorm. A Talent night rehearsal will follow!

Talent Night Competition – If you are participating in Talent, but not having dinner, (need a ticket for dinner) please let me know so I can make sure we have enough seats reserved for our class.
Friday – Kupuna Luncheon is in it’s second year and we’ve hit Kupuna status. Yikes!
Please text or email me with your ideas if you are interested in another activity instead of the Kupuna Luncheon. Walter is looking into Bowling, and a visit to Kaewai Stream (our service project) has been suggested.
Class Night – Billie Gabriel is in the process of planning. More info to come.
Saturday – Kamehameha Day Parade!
LUAU!!! You need a ticket to sit at tables reserved for the class. There are cocktail tables scattered for those without dinner tickets.

Please consider attending this very special service to remember our classmates who are no longer with us. Sam and Theone Tollefson are honored to represent us in the reading of our bereaved classmates.

Our Class Service Project for this reunion year is the “Kaewai Stream and Hawaiian Garden”. Alan Kumalae is our class project coordinator. The stream runs along Kaewai Elementary School. Their Hawaiian Studies Specialist is the site manager and uses it as a “classroom for learning”. Planning, cleaning, planting, and building is an 0n-going project. Although it may include weeding, planting, removing trash and building stone walkways, there are also light duties – water & refreshment, sharing with the kids, getting others involved and donating towards plants for the project. Our first visit will allow us to meet the kids so they can share with us and then visit the stream. We may decide to do a little cleaning at that time. April 10 has been set for the first day of our visit. Please check our imua69.com for more information.
Pauahi Challenge with Pua Bridget Ruane – Our KS 1969 Scholarship Fund has yet to award a scholarship, since it’s inception on our 45th reunion in 2014. We currently have $6890 in our endowment fund. A minimum of $10,000 is needed before we can establish and begin awarding. That’s $3,110 more needed. Go to pauahi.org and ‘navigate to’ giving. Designate the KS Class of 1969 Scholarship for your donation.

As you can see, many of our classmates are involved in the planning of our 50th reunion week. There are many ways, you too can be involved and contribute:

- First and most important, join us for our 50th reunion
- Attend the planned activities, so much work has gone into it
- Become a donor to our Pauahi KS 1969 Scholarship Fund, not only this year, but every year
- Donate to our Kaewai Stream Project so we can purchase native hawaiian plants for the stream’s garden.

Hokulani Holt Padilla is covered in a cascade of lei after receiving an honorary doctorate degree from The World Indigenous Nations University on Tuesday afternoon during the 2019 He Au Honua at UH-Maui College.
Hōkūlani Holt, PhD is a master hula teacher who first studied with her grandmother Ida Pakulani Long, and later learned from her aunt Kahili Cummings, mother Leiana Woodside and Hoakalei Kamau‘u. Holt is also an educator, playwright, composer and director. Her bilingual hula drama about Maui’s premier chief, Kahekili, toured the U.S., Japan and Germany. In addition to leading the hālau she founded in 1976, Pā‘ū O Hi‘iaka, she directs Ka Hikina O Ka Lā, a Hawaiian student scholarship program at UH Maui College. She also works with nonprofits Kauahea Inc. and Lālākea Foundation, teaches community culture classes, and oversees cultural education centers in Waihe‘e and Wai‘ehu, Maui.
